Even without their leading scorer, Conway Christian's Eagles dominated Magnet Cove Tuesday night in the opening round of the 2A-5 North District Tournament at Magnet Cove, 68-46.

Senior Kirby Powell is out of the tournament for Conway Christian, but they still advanced. At the half, the Eagles held a 29-25 lead.

"We pushed for the win in the third quarter when we had a strong defense forcing the other team into hard shots then rebounding the ball to run to their hoop to make the layup," Conway Christian coach Shane Davis said.

Zach Johnson led the Eagles with 25 points. Caleb Stanton added 13 points and seven assists.

"The team is in a survive-and-advance mode," Davis said.

Conway Christian was to face Abundant Life on Wednesday. A win would put the Eagles into the district semifinals and qualify them for the regional tournament.
