The Greenbrier Lady Panthers suffered a tough 5A-West home loss in double overtime Friday to the No. 2 team in the state, Greenwood, 63-58.
The Lady Bulldogs, the defending Class 5A state champions, kept their momentum going for a run at a repeat by staying perfect on the road. They improved to 18-8 overall and 10-2 in conference play.
The Lady Panthers (12-14, 5-6) did give them quite a challenge, though, throughout the game.
"I thought we played one of the best games of the season " Coach Todd Schaefer said of his Lady Panthers. "It was a hard-fought game."
The game was back and forth from the start.
Cicely New kept the Lady Panthers in the game with 23 points.
